Chapter Seventeen

The next morning, as soon as I woke, I dressed, grabbed my spare travel pants and my jeans (which had been returned cleaned and folded), and headed for the tailor’s. She was open and I walked into the shop.

She grinned upon seeing me and bid me ‘good morning’.

“Good morning ma’am. I was wondering if you would be able to put pockets on the pants you made me.” I gave her my jeans as an example of what I wanted.

She looked the jeans over. “It shouldn’t be a problem at all. I can do that fairly easily and quickly.”

“Do you have any more material to make the travel clothes out of?”

She chuckled. “Yes! I had plenty brought in after I finished with the clothes for the girls. I was planning on making replacements, in case you tore those up traipsing through the woods.”

“How about the material for the capes?”

“I have plenty of that too. I figured that the capes would be the first to hang up and tear.”

“Would you mind bringing my pants to my room when you finish, along with her measuring tool? I have another order for you.

She grinned. “Are you planning on everyone in the kingdom wearing my ‘travel clothes’? I’ll be rich and famous!”

I grinned. “The ‘famous’ we will work on later, but for now, you will just have to work on the rich part.” I dropped a gold coin on the table.

She chuckled. “I’ll be up as soon as I get these ready for you.”

I went back to the room and saw that Isabel was already dressed like the pretty Wizard she was. She hadn’t heard from the others yet.

I laughed. “It must be the beds not wanting them to escape. I think that we should wake them soon. At least the new ones, so the tailor can take measurements.”

“I wondered where you had run off to.”

I grinned. “Well, it was a toss-up between the tailor and Chloe’s room.” I had to dodge a punch.

She laughed. “Stop picking on me about that!”

I grinned. “Okay, okay I will… for now. I think that you should be the one to get the new girls up. I wouldn’t want them to wake on their first morning here with me standing over them.”

I headed for the kitchen. “Excuse me ma’am, what do I need to do to get three more chairs and another table moved to my room?”

She looked at me with an amused smile. “All you have to do is ask My Lord.”

I chuckled. “Would you please send three chairs, a table and breakfast for seven to my room? There’s no rush because some of the breakfasters haven’t crawled out of bed yet.”

She bowed as best as she could, while bending over a kettle, and I left.

When I got back to the room, all three new girls were there and still in their nightgowns. There was a scramble for blankets to cover themselves.

I smiled. “Living in close quarters like we are, I am sure to see you young ladies in night clothes from time to time.
